Who We Are

Gathering Place Brewing is an independent production brewery with taproom locations in Milwaukee’s Riverwest neighborhood and Wauwatosa. Since 2017 we’ve developed a strong following and have been nominated for Best Craft Brewery/Taproom by local publications. The brewery features a 7 bbl brewhouse with 100+ bbls of simultaneous fermentation capacity and a canning line. Our beer is served at 400+ stores, bars, and restaurants throughout Southeast Wisconsin, Madison, and Green Bay.

We strive to be a cornerstone of the community and want people to see our brewery as a place to gather. We donate at least 1% of sales to local non-profit organizations. We believe that the community should grow and prosper as we grow and prosper. 

About the Position

The Taproom Manager will be responsible for the overall operation of both taproom locations. Their focus will be on increasing taproom traffic and revenue through programming and events that ensure a high quality guest experience. The Taproom Manager will work with the President to develop sales goals and strategies to meet and exceed these metrics. They will regularly review sales data and identify ways to improve. 

The Taproom Manager will oversee taproom staff, including scheduling, training, and providing regular communication to ensure our team is well prepared to provide excellent service. This position will review and implement SOPs for all aspects of the taproom operation. Additionally, this person will manage inventory and order items as needed.

This full-time, salaried position reports directly to the President. The successful candidate will excel at working independently and with others. The Taproom Manager will be part of the brewery’s leadership team, along with the President and Head Brewer. The person in this role will have significant input in shaping how the position evolves over time.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the President to develop sales goals as well as strategies to meet and exceed these metrics; regularly review data and report on performance

  • Develop programming that will increase visitors and sales

  • Be the point of contact for people interested in hosting events in the taprooms

  • Lead a team of taproom employees by creating a work environment that encourages ownership and accountability, and maintains the highest standards of service

  • Create the schedule, assist in hiring, lead on-boarding and training, create and lead a continuous education program

  • Review and improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all aspects of the taproom; provide insight and ideas for improving the taproom experience

  • Administrative tasks including inventory, answering voicemails/emails from guests, etc.

  • Assist in other areas of the business as needed

  • Be a resource to guests and the community about our brewery and beer

  • Responsibly serve beer and other beverages, including verifying guest ages and monitoring guests to prevent overserving 

Who You Are:

  • Have 3+ years of experience in craft beer or hospitality management

  • Can lead and motivate a team to reach shared goals

  • Be a clear and effective communicator with guests, coworkers, and supervisor

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work efficiently on multiple projects

  • Proficient with Google Business Suite

  • Can review sales data and report findings on trends and patterns

  • Have the creativity to think of new ideas and the confidence to share and pursue them

  • A problem solving mentality and drive to successfully complete projects

  • A friendly attitude and ability to engage with guests to create a welcoming environment

  • Passionate about craft beer and a desire to share it with others

  • Able to work nights, weekends, and holidays 

  • Current Wisconsin Responsible Beverage Server Training certificate or willingness to obtain one

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time and to bend, stoop, and safely lift up to 55 pounds and move up to 165 pounds

  • Have a valid driver’s license and ability to work at both taproom locations

Our staff wears multiple hats to ensure tasks are completed and the business is successful. This position is a great way to break into the craft brewing industry and may lead to other and additional responsibilities over time.
